Carl E. Ishmon, 57, of Freeport, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. Carl was born September 20, 1963 in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Mr. James E. Ishmon Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Ishmon. Carl accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ricky Stidman. Carl loved the Lord and he prayed for himself and others. He loved being around his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also loved watching all sports, especially baseball, basketball, and football. His favorite baseball team as the Chicago Cubs, favorite basketball team was the L.A. Lakers, and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. Carl may not have been able to see but he could tell you everything that was going on in the game. One thing about Carl he may not have went into the military, but he overcame every obstacle that came his way. Carl was a real trooper. We would say to him that he was the strongest person we ever knew. Carl would always reply "YELP". Carl went through things that most people would not have been able to bear, and he never complained. Carl ALWAYS-ALWAYS kept a smile on his face. He was kindhearted, loveable, and most of all UNIQUE. Everyone he encountered loved him and his "UNIQUE SMILE". Carl leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories: three sisters, Annie Green, Virginia Allen, and Nina (Willie) Ishmon; five brothers, Will (Evelyn) Phillips JR., Johnny (Diane) Morris Jr., James (Monica) Ishmon Jr., and David (Teresa) Ishmon, and Wayne Ishmon; special nephew, Terrence (Lezzette) Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents James Sr. and Annie Mae Ishmon; two sisters Betty and Giunetta; and two brothers Curtis and Christopher. Carl will be deeply missed by his family and everyone that new him, Carl was "ONE OF A KIND". Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday May 28, 2021 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
