Calvin C. Thompson

Calvin C. Thompson 79, of Freeport, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Calvin was born April 27, 1938 in Freeport, the son of George and Hazel (Kosier) Thompson. He married Barbara Shenberger April 30, 1955 in Dubuque, Iowa. Calvin worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Local 150 for 44 years. He was a fan of the Cubs, Bears, and NASCAR. Calvin enjoyed boxing in his youth and listening to country music. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Thompson of Freeport; two sons, Scott (Jane) Thompson of Springfield and Calvin "Bill" Thompson of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Debra (Richard) Mills of Freeport, Jodi (Tim) Welch of Freeport, Tracey (Brian) Neels of Freeport; and Candy Kahly of Oregon; three brothers, Donald (Betty) Thompson of Loves Park, Preston (Nancy) Thompson of Freeport and Richard (Mary) Thompson of Freeport; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 18, 2017 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Rev. William Blomberg will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
