Bruce D. Swalve, 50, of Shannon, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in his home. Bruce was born on February 18, 1964 in Freeport, the son of Wayne and Gladys (Sass) Swalve. Bruce attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Shannon. He was a member of Freeport Eagles Club #679. Bruce enjoyed grilling out, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Bruce worked for the Village of Shannon and also for the Village of Bensenville for over 20 years. Surviving are his brother, Dale (Charlene) Swalve of Shannon; sister-in-law. Linda Swalve of Shannon; niece, Tina (Curt) Grove of Chillicothe, IL; nephews, Chris (Jacy) Swalve, Ross (Kim) Swalve, Lance Swalve of Bensenville, IL and Chad (Jen) Swalve of Shannon. Also surviving are many great-nieces and great-nephews and his former wife, Ginger Barten of Bensenville. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Darryl "Mookie" Swalve; and sister, Karen. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 30, 2014 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
