Betty Moore

Mother Betty Jean Moore, 60, of Freeport, has fought a good fight, has finished her course and she has kept her faith until December 6, 2013 when she departed the earth after an extended illness at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born December 17, 1952 in Carbondale, IL, to James A. Moore and Vera E. Moore. She attended Attucks Elementary and Carbondale Community High School. She had two lovely children Marcus D. Moore (Father -Alphonso Hall) and Melika L. Moore ( Father- Lawerence Taylor). Betty moved to Chicago in 1970 and later moved to Freeport in 1973. She worked at Micro Switch (Honeywell) and she was a devoted mother as well a homemaker to her children. Betty was also a faithful member of Faith For Miracle Deliverance and Worship Center. Betty was well taken care of by her daughter Melika Moore who Kept her mother at home to give her the loving care that she needed during the time of her illness. She also had other caregivers; Wandy Ishmon, Aron Spearman, Aretha Thompson and her caseworker Ann Downs. A special friend Jonetta (Cookie) Johnson who has stuck by her side for many years. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Melika Moore of Freeport; her sisters, Beverly and Brenda Moore both of Carbondale; her brothers George "Tommy" Moore of Freeport, Jerry and Jeffrey Moore both of Carbondale; siblings, Sheila English of Los Angeles, CA., Kay Sheird and Netta Sheird of Peoria, Barbara, Marie and Gregory Armsted all of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters Britany and Marquita Moore both of Freeport; two great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her son, a brother James Moore Jr and a sister Bernadette Moore-Watson. Funeral services will be Saturday 11 a.m. at Faith For Miracle Deliverance and Worship Center 3247 S. Baileyville Rd. Bishop J. Arthur Wade, officiating.
