Betty Lou Williams went to her eternal home on Sunday morning, July 10, 2022. She was born on July 16, 1945, in West, Mississippi to Singleton and Paralee (Horton) Shipp. Betty came to know Christ at an early age and lived a life that honored Him. She was united in marriage to the late George Williams. To that union two children were born, George Williams Jr, of Freeport, Illinois, and Steven Williams of Loves Park, Illinois. Betty always had a heart for children. After retiring from Micro Switch she followed her heart and spent many years in Freeport schools working as a paraprofessional with special needs children. Miss Betty was a favorite of many children and was often requested by parents to assist their children. She was a member of The First Church of God and served as an usher for many years. She also often led prayer, sang, and would eagerly serve in any area requested. She enjoyed reading, going on walks with her sister Jean and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Betty adored her grandchildren, Samantha, Brandon, and Chloe. She was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Haven Marie Williams, and cherished the time she was able to spend with her in June to celebrate her 1st birthday. Betty was a wonderful woman who lived her life with love for her family and friends and unwavering faith in our great God. In the 76 years she traversed the earth she touched the lives of many with her quick sense of humor, infectious laughter, and beautiful smile. She fought a good fight, she finished her course well and she kept the faith. Betty leaves cherished memories to her children, George Williams Jr. and Steven (Deanna) Williams, her sisters Jean (Ralph) Lenoir of Freeport, Illinois, and Barbara Shipp of Chesapeake, Virginia, and her brothers Earl Shipp, Larry Shipp, and Laverne Shipp all of Freeport, Illinois; grandchildren Samantha Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brandon (Anna) Williams of Raymore Missouri, and Chloe Williams of Rockford, Illinois and great-granddaughter Haven Marie Williams of Raymore Missouri; cherished friends Eva Jean Craig and Mary Shipp both of Freeport, Illinois. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings Clara Bell and Tanzie Shipp. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2022, at the First Church of God, Freeport.
