Betty J. Seal, also lovingly known as 'Miss Betty' passed away peacefully on August 12, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born February 14, 1938 in Pulaski, IL to the late Marshall and Sarah (Thompson) Lee. AS a young child her parents taught her to love the lord. Betty made a decision to accept Christ as her personal savior early in life. After graduating from high school in Southern Illinois, she moved to Chicago where she met and married Manuel Lonnie Seal. They started their family in Chicago and were blessed with two more children when they moved to Freeport. Betty attend Highland Community College and was employed in various places before she found her niche at NICAA as a teacher in the Head Start Program. It was during this time that she became known as 'Miss Betty' . After leaving head start, Betty began working with special needs adults at St. Vincent'™s Provena. She remained employed there until she retired. She leaves to remember her in love, two sons, Manuel of Atlanta and Darrien of Las Vegas; two daughters, Cherise Seal and Felecia (Phelix) Pruitt of Freeport; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert Lee of Pulaski, IL and two sisters, Ethel Childress of Mounds, IL and Sarah (Obadiah) LaFlora of Chicago; a host of nieces and nephews, family, friends, her special caregivers, her cousin, Evelyn McClain and her niece, Alria Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Walter Lee and four sisters, Rita Thomas, Minnie 'Polly' Cochran, Margaret Jackson and Audrey Smith. Services will be held Saturday 12:00 p.m. at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. 579 E. Madison Street. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
