Betty Jo Wubbena Betty Jo Wubbena 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov 13 in her home with family present. Born April 1, 1934 to John and Lula (Allen) Gale in Union, Iowa. Betty married the love of her life, Phillip M. Wubbena on Feb. 1, 1953 in Sterling. They had four children and eight grandchildren. Betty came for humble beginnings. Living through the Depression made her appreciate the little things in life. She wanted for nothing but felt she was given everything. She was always happiest when doing things for others. Betty once said God had told her, her job here on earth was to love unconditionally and serve others. Everyone who met Betty adored her and was taken in by her friendliness, wit and humor. Betty's heart was open to everyone with no judgement, truly a pure heart. She was a beautiful private lady poised in every way. Her family was her greatest pride and joy. They will say she was a consummate mother and grandmother. She was immensely adored by them. Betty was a servant of God strong in her faith and enjoyed her church and playing old time hymns on her piano. Betty's passing is a testament of eternal life with Christ. Phil and Betty founded Phil's Fresh Eggs, Inc. in 1959. Their quality egg brand quickly became an industry model for today's humane animal food industry. Both Phil and Betty were inventors in their own right, showing that an idea and hard work could create a successful business. Betty was a member of the Forreston Reformed Church. She is survived by children Christine (Marc) Strich of Wellington, FL, Rodney (Denise) Wubbena of Belvidere, Audrey (Tim) Padden of Palatine, and Keith (Helen) Wubbena of Stillman Valley; grandchildren, Katrina & Jon Strich, Anne & Jane Wubbena, Brittany and Edward Padden, and Samuel and Carly Wubbena. She was predeceased by her loving husband Phil, parents and nine brothers and sisters. A private funeral will be held at the Forreston Reformed Church with interment in White Oak Cemetery, Forreston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Forreston Reformed Church. Please visit www.burketubbs.com to sign her online quest book and to share memories.
