Betty Jean Pruitt

Our wonderful mother passed away on July 8, 2024 at Manor Court of Liberty Village in Freeport, IL She was born April 23, 1927, the daughter of Samuel and Luella (Otto) Wilhelms. She married Raymond Pruitt on November 23, 1946 in Champaign, IL. They moved to rural Freeport and lived there for 60 years. She was employed by J.C. Penney’s for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers and plants.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Chuck) Farthing of Alabama, Brian (Dawn) Pruitt of Florida, Rodney Pruitt of rural Freeport; her adored 11 grandchildren, Chastity (Jeff) Roetting, Joe (Emily) Farthing, Eric Barker, Mike (Marissa) Pruitt, Justus Pruitt, Stacia (Dustin) Coy, Jered Pruitt, Jeremiah (Nina) Pruitt, Noah Pruitt, Cody (Sierra) Pruitt, and Chelsea Pruitt; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Verla (Lloyd) Johnson of Peoria; and brother, Kenneth (Lorraine) Wilhelms of Freeport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Gregory (Kathy) Pruitt, and brother and sister-in-law, Marsden and LaVonne Wilhelms.

Cremation rights have been accorded. A private family interment at Grandview Cemetery at a future date.
