Beryl I. Janssen

Beryl I. Janssen, 101, of Freeport, died Wednesday November 30, 2016 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born December 24, 1914 in Stephenson County, IL, the daughter of William and Della (Walters) Griffin. She married Orville Tempel; he died in 1946. She married John Janssen May 27, 1956 in Highland Park, IL; he died November 27, 1979. Beryl worked at Burgess Battery. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Beryl is survived by her son Lyle (Eileen) Tempel of The Villages, FL; two granddaughters Cathy (Kurt) Hasty of Paducah, KY and Anne (Bill) Towers of Naples, FL; and three great-grandchildren Allison and Meghan Hasty, and Jake Towers. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands. The family would like to thank Bill Ackerman, Kathy Terhark, Holly Lomax, and Kelly Schleich for their kindness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 10, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Eddie Eddy officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
