Barbara S. Marck

Barbara Susan (Gitchel) Marck, of Freeport, IL passed away on July 9, 2022. She was born on January 15, 1957 to the late Eunice (Goetz) and Lloyd Lawrence Gitchel. In her professional life Barb was an RN at RMH's NICU, a para educator at FHS and later an RN at local Nursing Homes. However she most enjoyed being a stay at home mom when her children were young. Barbara was happiest when she was spending time with her family. She was very involved with her children in both 4-H and Boy Scouts. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, horseback riding and bike riding. Barbara loved being outside and enjoying nature. One of her favorite places to spend time was at Canyon Camp in the summers with her children. Above all else, her Catholic faith and relationship with God was most important; she was a member of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport Il. Barbara is survived by the father of her children Michael Marck, children David Marck and April Wise of Freeport, Michelle Marck of Freeport, Alexander and Kristen (Abramowicz) Marck of Itasca Il, grandchild on the way, siblings Theresa Ann (Gitchel) and Ralph Shroba of Boulder Co., Mary E. Geary and Nancy Roodhouse of Rockford Il and Thomas L and Darlene (Welsch) Gitchel of Bladenboro, N.C., as well as several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 22nd from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. There will be a 4:00pm prayer service. The funeral service will be Saturday July 23rd at 10:30am at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport.
