Barbara Ann Thiele

Barbara Ann Thiele, 91, of Lena, IL passed away Sunday July 17, 2022 at Ascension Living Saint Joseph Village in Freeport, IL. She was born September 7, 1930 in Freeport, IL to Alfred P. and Ruby E. (Shank) Stewart. On June 17, 1951 she married Roger Thiele in Freeport, IL. Barbara was employed at Sears as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Barbara was well known for her applesauce and zucchini relish. Helping her senior friends was really important to Barbara. Most of all she enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. Surviving is her husband Roger of Lena, IL; two sons Robert F. (Kathy) of Waterloo, IA and William F. of Freeport, IL; daughter Debra J. Altensey of Lena, IL; sister Eleanor (Robert) Becker of Freeport, IL; six grandchildren Alisha Frakes, Connie Bicksler, Stephanie Smith, Mindi Thiele, Jenna Thiele, and Traci Thiele; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lester and Alfred Stewart and three sisters Betty Meyers, Priscilla Stewart and Vivian Krogull. A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday July 26, 2022 at Stewart Center West, 2900 West Pearl City Road; a luncheon will be included. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her memory.
