Barbara Ann Kielsmeier

Barbara Ann Kielsmeier, 80, of Freeport, died Friday August 31, 2018 at Manor Court of Liberty Village. Barbara was born April 27, 1938 in Freeport, the daughter of Howard and Ruby J. (Woods) Deethardt. She married Duane R. Kielsmeier May 28, 1960 in Freeport. Mr. Kielsmeier died September 20, 2002. Barb, a gentle soul, was known for her beautiful crafts that she sewed with love. She welcomed the community into her home year after year with her Annual Christmas Craft Show. Many hearts were also touched by her homemade goodness from the kitchen. Barb dedicated several years to the family lunch wagon as well as the K-mart Deli prior to retiring. In her later years, she enjoyed time with the "Chix of 56" and spoiling her friends and family. Barb gave selflessly to others and will be deeply missed. Surviving are son, Steven Kielsmeier of Freeport; daughter, Polly Kielsmeier of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brother, Bill Deethardt of Las Vegas, NV.; and two grandchildren, Cora (Andrew Stevens) Kielsmeier of Macomb and Madison (Kendal Parker) Kielsmeier of Peoria. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Mark. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Rev. Ted Michalsen will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Following the burial there will be a luncheon at Bethany United Church of Christ (2341 West Stephenson St.). A memorial has been established in her memory.
