Audrey Anne Moritz, 86 of Lena died Friday March 28, 2014 surrounded by family at her home. She was born April 9, 1927 in Freeport and was the daughter of Floyd and Virginia (Held) Snyder. Audrey married Charles H. Moritz on September 15, 1945 at Crippendale Farm in Freeport. They shared almost 62 years of marriage together. They enjoyed their retirement years and traveled most of the country and wintered the last 18 years in Harlingen, Texas. Audrey enjoyed dancing and socializing during their retirement years. Audrey was a loving mother to 6 children. She was always concerned about the wellbeing of others. She worked briefly at the Telephone Company and Sears, but made her living being the best wife and mother for her family. Audrey is survived by her children; her son Kenneth "Casey" (Pam) Moritz of Lena; Five daughters Ellen (Doug) Doty of Freeport, Linda Moritz of San Diego, CA, Leslie (Jeff) Sweeney of San Antonio, Texas, Wendy (Dave) Fink of Roy, UT, Becky (Michael Munroe) Strong of Loves Park, IL; one brother Gordon (Bonnie) Snyder of Waite Park, MN, one sister Natalie Heimerdinger of Palos Hills, IL. Grandchildren Ashley (Aaron) Polizzi of Lena, IL, Kaitlyn, Troy and Brian Doty of Freeport. Rory (Krista) Sweeney of Ft Bragg, NC. Ian (Anna) Sweeney of Ft Bragg, NC, Gail (Kevin) Perkes, West Point, UT, Jody Hansen, Roy, UT, Jaime Morris, Cederfort, UT, Douglas Strong, Surprise, AZ, Amanda (Michael) Rath, Wymore, NB, Bradley (Angela) Strong, Lena, IL. And 14 Great Grand Children. Audrey is preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents and brother Richard Snyder and sisters Carol Wilke, Alison Scoville, Cynthia Laughin. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Diane Jochum officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00.
