Arthur Calvin 'Artie' Wubbena, 97, of Forreston, passed away peacefully at his home in Forreston on April 2, 2012. Art was born on October 9, 1914 on the Wubbena Farm west of Forreston, to Harm and Sadie (Meyer) Wubbena. Artie married Ruth Alice DeWall (daughter of John and Anne (Drake) DeWall) on June 3, 1938, they moved to a farm south of Forreston. In 1951, they went to live on the homestead farm west of Forreston. Art and Ruth farmed their till 1964. Art still 'helped' with the farm work for several more years. After he 'semi' retired, he drove school bus for the Forreston School District from 1966 to 1992. Both Art and Ruth were active at Forreston Grove Presbyterian Church where he was baptized and then served as Trustee for many years. During his lifetime he was a Director of Forreston State Bank from 1967 to 1989, Treasurer of Forreston Fire Department, sold DeKalb Seed Corn and Madison Silos. Art was a member of the Forreston Lions Club and Mt. Morris Moose. He attended the Friendship Club that meets on Wednesdays in Forreston, had Breakfast with the men at the Reformed Church and was a Member of the Ogle County Farm Bureau. Art and Ruth went roller skating at the Pines every Thursday evening for many years. Dominos was his favorite game; he was even known to bid 84 with NO double. Art was very outgoing and enjoyed talking with old friends and meeting new people. No one was a stranger. Survivors include 3 children; two sons; Dennis (Marion) of Forreston, Delmar (Connie) of Johnson City, Tennessee, daughter; Marcia (Edward) Wegner) of Winchester/Presque Isle, WI, nine grandchildren; Denise (Jon) Bachman of Marion, IN, Debbie (Troy) Lovell of Bourbonnais, IL, Jeff (Carol) Wubbena of Forreston, Troy Wubbena of Clearwater, FL, Dawn (Dean) Wilson of Charleston, SC, Bambi (Nano) Jamon of Waterford, CT, Nick (Marian) Willard of Madison, WI, Beka (Michael) Willard-Pant of Duncan, SC, and Tony Willard of Duncan, SC. Also surviving are 23 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter Phoebe Willard of Duncan, SC, two sisters; Lucille Dittmar of Freeport and Irene LaBelle of Sun City West, AZ. Art was preceded in death by his parents; Harm and Sadie, his beloved wife Ruth, a sister; Esther McGraw, brother-in-laws; Howard Dittmar, Glenn McGraw and Victor LaBelle and great grandson; Clayton Wilson. 'Artie' was loved and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday April 6, 2012 at Forreston Grove Church, 7246 North Freeport Road, Forreston, IL, 61030. Pastor Jeremy Cheezum will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday April 5, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston, 203 South 3rd Ave, Forreston, IL, 61030. Burial will be at Forreston Grove Cemetery.
