Arlo G. Trickel, 81, of Freeport died November 4, 2024. He was born March 7, 1943 in Freeport, IL the son of Arlie and Doris Trickel. Arlo was a 1961 graduate of Freeport High School. On April 16, 1966 he married Carolyn Stahl. He was employed at Micro Switch in Freeport for over 40 years before his retirement. Arlo was a member of First Lutheran Church in Freeport. In his younger years he was a member of the Orangeville Country Swingers Square Dance Club with his wife, under teacher/caller Bob Wild and enjoyed dancing and traveling to other clubs throughout several states. He enjoyed visiting extended family at reunions and traveling with his wife, friends, and family. Arlo enjoyed bowling and was on leagues at 4 Seasons Bowling Center. A fan of the Green Bay Packers and of Nascar, as well as local race tracks. He liked going to Nascar races in Milwaukee or watching them on TV. He also liked going to Darlington racetrack with his son and grandchildren up until a few years ago. In his later years, before his own health declined, he helped take care of his wife Carolyn and mother Doris. Arlo will be missed for his quiet and agreeable nature.
Survivors include children Scott (Nicole) Trickel and Angie Trickel; grandchildren Erich Heinrich, Christopher (Lenz) Kaiser, Cole Trickel and McKenzie Trickel; great-grandchildren Lance and Athena Kaiser; sister Phyllis (late Gene) Goodsell; sisters and brothers-in-law Nancy Peter, Virginia & Joe Styron, Debbie Stahl, Diana Stahl, Joann & Mike Fane, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn (2020), parents Arlie and Doris Trickel, father and mother-in-law Henry and Ruth Stahl, brothers-in-law Larry Peter, Steve Stahl, and Gene Goodsell.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 9, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Pastor Barbara Stark officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
