Arbeth M. Brunner, 88, of Freeport, died Sunday September 25, 2016 in the Stephenson Nursing Center. Arbeth was born on December 25, 1927 in Freeport, the son of Oscar L. and Elizabeth M. (Vogler) Brunner. Arbeth married Ida D. Albright on August 30, 1953 in the Christ Lutheran Church, Stockton, Illinois. Mr. Brunner served for the U.S. Air Force in the Korean Conflict from 1948-1952. Arbeth worked at Kelly-Springfield for 28 years where he was one of the first Kelly-Springfield employees. He also farmed for over 10 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, United Rubber Workers Local 745 (retired), and a life member of the Lena American Legion - Post #557. Surviving are his wife, Ida Brunner; sons, Lee Brunner of Olympia, WA., Steven (Belva) Brunner of Fayetteville, NC., and Robert Brunner of Daegui, South Korea; daughter, Coralyn (Richard) Stabenow of Rockford; three grandchildren, Tristan (Michelle) Stabenow, Joseph Stabenow and Corey Stabenow; niece, Cherie Bartelt and her special friend Jim; and nephew Curt Albright. Arbeth was preceded in death by his parents and sister. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 1, 2016 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Luepke will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In memory of Arbeth and his love for the Chicago Cubs the family requests anyone attending the service to wear Chicago Cub clothing.
