Anthony "Tony" J. Barcellona

Anthony "Tony" J. Barcellona, 97, of Freeport, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, Wisconsin. Tony was born on September 27, 1918 in Freeport, the son of Frank and Rose Barcellona. He married Eva L. Goldy on June 4, 1941 in Freeport. Eva died on July 28, 1996. Tony worked as a meat cutter for 40 years for National Food Service and was also employed at the Freeport County Club. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed swimming at the Fitness Center, having coffee at McDonald's, and following the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Surviving are two daughters, Teresa Barcellona of Elk Grove Village, and Diane (Jake) Barcellona of Janesville, WI.; sister, Margaret Bradbury of Brookfield, IL,; eight grandchildren, Steph, Paul, Andy, Michael, Andrea, Matthew, Jennifer, and Erin; and seven great-grandchildren, Lauren, Audrey, Joey, Drake, Cristina, Kennedy, Anthony. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, Betty Preston and Mary Ann Henning; and one granddaughter, Christine. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 14, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, with a Rosary service beginning at 4:00 p.m. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday.
