Anna M. Penniston

Anna M. (Jordan) Penniston, 72, of Freeport, died Sunday October 2, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 9, 1939 in Warren, IL, the daughter of Donald Sr. and Hazel (Kerr) Luy. Anna enjoyed spending time with her family, ironing, cleaning, and caring for her home was a joy and priority for her, dancing, fun jewelry, playing euchre, making trips to the boat in Dubuque, and watching over the other residents at Provena Home. Anna is survived by her stepmother Darlene Smith of Savanna, IL; two sons Dean (Olivia) Jordan of Rock Island, Il and Roger Jordan Jr. of Freeport, IL; three daughters Juli (William) Gempler of Mukwonago, WI, Peni (Preston) Smith of Rockford, IL, and Wendi Moorman of Rockford, IL; her brother David Luy of Lanark, IL two sisters Vicki Bird and Diane Luy-Holder of Savanna, IL; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; also her special friends Lynne, Della, and Noelle. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers,; her son Gene; and two great granddaughters Isabela and Natalie. A memorial service for Anna will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday October 6, 2011 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be from 2:00 until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded, and burial will take place at a later date St. Anne'™s Cemetery in Warren, IL. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her memory.
