Anita M. Witt, 84, of Freeport, Illinois, died Monday June 27, 2011 in Freeport. Born November 28, 1926 in West Grove, Il, the daughter of William Matthew and Eva (Newcomer) Watson. She married Wesley C. Witt, August 29, 1947 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris, IL. Attended Forreston, IL area primary Schools and was a Mt. Morris High school graduate. Attended Shimer College, Mt. Carroll, Il and Carthage College, Carthage, Il. Past member of Carthage College Acappella Choir, St. Paul'™s Lutheran Church Choir, Oregon, Il. and Trinity Lutheran Church Choir, Mt. Morris, Il. Member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport, Il. She was employed 22 years by McGregor-Dawson Subscription service, Mt. Morris, Il. Anita had a passion for singing, needlepoint, and baking angel food cakes for family birthdays. Survivors include three sons: Terry (Georgia) Witt of Angier, NC, David (Susan) Witt of Blue Springs, MO, and Charles (Robin) Witt of Freeport, IL; her brother Lavere (Mary) Watson of Mt. Morris, Il; twelve grandchildren: Matthew (Irene) of GA, Jodi of Angier, NC(US Army), Karen (David) of Blue Springs, MO, Ryan (Kim) of Blue Springs, MO, Breanna of Raymour, MO, Benjamin (US Air Force), Joshua of Blue Springs, MO, Nathan of Freeport, IL, Brenda (Rod) of Freeport, Il, Bonnie (Josh) of Freeport, IL, Chrystel (Toby) of Freeport, Il, and Arthur of Freeport, Il.; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. Thursday June 30, 2011 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport with Pastor Mark Luepke officiating. Visitation will 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday also at Prince of Peace. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Dixon. Memorials in her memory can be made out to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Morris.
