Angeline, "Angie" (Fontana), Homan, 97, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on January 16th at her Parkview home. She was born on June 10th, 1923, in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Vito and Antonina Fontana. She was a 1941 Aquin High School Graduate. She proudly worked at Sears and Roebuck as credit manager for several years. On October 28th, 1951, she married Ken Homan. They spent many years on their farm before retiring to their ranch home built adjacent to the family farm. Angie enjoyed cooking meals for farm hands and family, and she was known for making the best apple pie! She also loved learning new things by taking continuing education courses at Highland Community College such as pottery and ceramics. She was a superior homemaker. On more than one occasion, she refinished the wood in different areas of the home with beauty and professional quality. During harvest season, Angie would collaborate with the neighbors to can fruits and vegetables such as corn and beans, grape and strawberry jams and jellies. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing and mending for her children. As a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas church, she enjoyed a breakfast group after weekday morning mass. She also loved spending time with her grandsons and recently great grandchildren enjoying family dinners together. She enjoyed many years at Parkview in her own apartment until moving into the memory care unit. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the nurses and staff for the excellent care and love they provided Angie over the years. A special thank you also to friends that helped care for her, especially the Merry family for "Angie Day"! Angie is survived by her three children, daughters Kathy (Brian) Benning and Karen of Freeport, and son Mark of Hermosa Beach, CA, her two grandsons, Kyle (Sara) Benning, Brett Benning, and three great grandchildren, Aubrey, Carter, and Molly Benning. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, and her three brothers, Joe (Marilyn) Fontana, Phil (Bernece) Fontana, and Tony Fontana. Due to Covid, a private family church service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas with no visitation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name for St. Thomas church and Parkview Memory Care. Please sign Mrs. Homan's guestbook and share a remembrance at www.burketubbs.com
