Angela "Angie' Collins

November 7, 1939 — November 27, 2013

Angelena "Angie" Collins was born November 7, 1939 in West, MS, to John Fitch, and Ethel Gilliam. She departed this life on November 27, 2013. She married Melvin Collins on November 23, 1957, and one daughter was born from this union. She worked at Newell, and retired from E & W Clothing Store. She loved to knit, crochet doilies and afghans, and sew for her family. Her most favorite occupation was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devoted Sunday School Teacher extraordinaire. Each Sunday evening, she began the week long process, with her Bible, Sunday School book, Concordance, and Bible Dictionary, to prepare for her Sunday School class. She was determined to be prepared to teach her class so that every student could be involved and understand the lesson. She enjoyed going on her family vacations to the majority of the states in the U.S. She helped her daughter and son-in-law by being the only baby-sitter to her grandchildren. There's just an amazing wonder how God blessed her health to be able to watch over her grandchildren until her oldest grandson was 13 years old, and could help look after his younger brother and sisters. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Melvin, daughter Cindy (Carl) Marshall, grandchildren Christina (Jarvis) Hartshaw, and Tiffany Marshall of Jackson, TN, Samuel, Carl Jr., Danielle, and Andreia Marshall, all of Freeport, IL, one sister Eva Fane (who gave her such tender loving care), special daughter Deborah E. Triplett, great-granddaughters Paige Marshall, and Parker Hartshaw, of Jackson, TN, a host of brother/sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives friends and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her nephew, Tyler D.Hawthorne. A funeral service and visitation will be Wednesday, December 4, at 11:00 A.M. at Evangelistic Church of God in Christ, 440 S. Benton Avenue, Freeport, IL 61032. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at the church. Supt. Willie L. Collins Sr., will be officiating. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
