Andrew J. Altensey

Andrew J. Altensey, 47, of Freeport, died Monday June 16, 2014 near Warren, IL, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born June 10, 1967 in Freeport, IL, the son of Larry and Janice (Finkbeiner) Altensey. He married Debra Thiele on February 2, 1989 in Jamaica. Andrew graduated from Freeport High School in 1985. He attended Highland Community College and graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Web Printing Control in Barrington, IL and for Carter Motors in Warren, IL. He was a member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River, following NASCAR, and racing stock cars. Andrew is survived by his wife Debra Altensey of Freeport, IL; his father Larry (Bette) Altensey of Freeport, IL, his mother Jan Altensey of Freeport, IL; three step daughters Alisha Frakes of Thomson, IL, Stephanie Smith, and Connie Bicksler both of Freeport, IL; his brother Perry (Sue) Altensey of Freeport, IL; his nephew Gary (Andrea) Altensey of Forreston, IL; his niece Amy Sue Altensey of Freeport, IL; four step grandchildren Dayren Booker, Nathaniel Bicksler, Lauren Bicksler, and Michaela Bicksler; and three step sisters Robin (Beau) Moore of Brookfield, WI., Barbara (Keith) Baron of Woodridge, Il and Barri (Eric) Maaske of Glen Ellen, IL. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday June 19, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
