A heart of gold, Andrew David Watter, 25 of German Valley, IL, stopped beating on September 16, 2022 at UW Health Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois surrounded by family. Born August 16, 1997 in Rockford to David Watter and Jody Miller, life threw challenges at him from his first breath. He never let his genetic anomalies hinder his love and passion for life, his family and his friends. He graduated from Ogle County Educational Coop in 2018 where he played basketball for the OCEC All-Stars and was a member of the Special Olympics where he loved bowling. More recently, he attended The Friendship Center in Lena, and he scheduled life around his days there and was disappointed to miss this Friday. He also loved donating and shopping at My Friend's Closet in Lena and encourages you to also. He loved the Packers, farming (his rainbow farm, farming game, You-Tube farming videos and visiting family farms, tractors, especially John Deere), dragons, Legos and Bionicle creatures, tags on blankets, Patriotic music, bag pipe music and drumming with his hero, Drummer Dan. He was an honorary member of the German Valley Fire Department where he proudly served at fundraisers with his dad, mom, Amanda, and Daniel. He loved spending time with family whether at a gathering, playing video games or traveling. He made sure we scheduled regular pit stops and knew where every bathroom was. Andrew didn't have a mean bone in his body and loved everyone he met unconditionally. He forgave easily, loved unconditionally, and showed grace in ways most people could never fathom. He was a proud uncle and loved his cousins who all admired him. If the love of family, friends and those whose lives he touched could have healed his heart, he would have lived forever; instead, he will forever leave an impression on each heart he met. Andrew is survived by his parents, David and Melissa Watter and Jody (Christopher) Miller. Siblings Corey (Sarah) Watter, Megan (Jeremy) Pfeiffer, Kyle Watter, Amanda Watter, LCpl Daniel Watter, USMC and Christopher Miller. Nieces and nephews Brooklyn and Bentley Watter and Robert and Jace Pfeiffer. Cousins Zach and Ashley Watter, Kylie and Kelsey Wagner, Ellie and Easton Bardell, Layna Voss and Carter and Cayden Arnold. Aunts and Uncles Tim (Jody) Watter, Nik Watter, Lindsey (Chad) Wagner, Rebecca (Noah) Voss, Patrick (Heidi) Arnold. Grandparents Elisabeth Watter, Betty Duray, Jim and Cindy Arnold. Also numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his beloved dog, Maggie. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Larry Duray, Klaus Watter and adopted grandmother Nadine Adkins. The family would like to thank everyone at UW Health Swedish American, for their care, compassion and love shown to Andrew and our family. Memorials can be made in Andrew's memory to the Lena Friendship Center or to the family to for an Outdoor Musical Memorial at the German Valley Park.
