Alvin F. Kemper

Alvin F. Kemper, 100, a resident of Lena Living Center, died Wednesday February 2, 2022. He was born December 10, 1921 in Glenvil, Nebraska the son of Thomas and Mattie (Ocker) Kemper. Mr. Kemper was a W. W. II Army veteran from 1942-1945 serving in the South Pacific Theatre. Mr. Kemper farmed then later worked for National Lock Company for 31 years. He retired in 1978. Mr. Kemper married Velma Harbers December 15, 1946 in German Valley, Illinois. She died in November of 1972. He married Marianna Janssen Ruter August 21, 1976 in German Valley. She died January 29, 2004. Alvin was a member of Silver Creek Reformed Church and a member of American Legion Post 357, Lanark, Illinois. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Judie Kemper of Surprise, Arizona; grandson, Michael (Michelle) Kemper of Arizona; one great-granddaughter, Meya Kemper; step-son, Roger Ruter of Shannon; step-daughter Janice (Melvin) Colberg of Freeport; step-grandchildren Valerie (Brad) Woessner of Shannon, Mark (Barb) Ruter of Shannon, Natalie (Andrew) Grebner of Monroe, WI. and Derek (Crystal) Ruter of Shannon; step-great-grandchildren Benjamin & Hannah Woessner, Jacob & Madalyn Grebner & Emma, and Payton and Rielly Ruter; two sisters-in-law, Marian Janssen of Hospers, Iowa Darlene Janssen of Freeport. He is also survived by his special friend, Donna Mae Stewart; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded death by his wives, son, Ronnie; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ruter. Funeral services will be Monday,11:00 A.M. February 7, 2022 in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home Freeport, Rev. Nora Johnson, Pastor of Silver Creek Reformed Church will officiate. Visitation will from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at Burke-Tubbs. American Legion Post 357., Lanark will preform Military Honors. Burial will be in Silver Creek Reformed Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name.
