Allan H. Genandt, 85, of Forreston died March 16, 2018 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born August 18, 1932 to Louis and Lena (Runte) Genandt. On October 3, 1953 he married Rhowena (Kilker) in Forreston. Allan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. He was a member of North Grove Evangelical Church and the Forreston American Legion. He is survived by his wife, three sons Greg (Barb) Genandt, Rod (Lynn) Genandt and Todd (Lee) Genandt; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Nick) Rowe, Krysta (Ben) Dittmar, Andrew (Dani) Genandt, Matt (Molly) Genandt, Megan (Jack) Hayes, Molly Genandt, Austin (Kristina) Genandt, Amanda DeVine, Noah Genandt and Michael Genandt; six great grandchildren Paige Dittmar, Khloe Dittmar, Aria Genandt, Kingston Genandt, Cruz Genandt and Owen Genandt; sister Irene Dieken; sister-in-law Marjorie Genandt; and many nieces and nephews. Allan farmed in Ogle County, was a feed salesman, a custodian and bus driver for Forrestville Valley School District, and recently served as the director for the New Life Community Food Pantry in Forreston. All of his life his, passion was tinkering and serving anyone he could. Allan is preceded in death by his son Gordon Genandt, grandson Kenneth Genandt, brother Ralph Genandt, brother-in-law Donald Dieken and Allan's parents. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday March 21, 2018 at North Grove Evangelical Church with Rev. Tim Hotchkiss officiating. A visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Tuesday March 20, 2018 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston. Burial will be in North Grove Evangelical Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name.
