Alice M. Weaver, 101, of Freeport, IL passed away Thursday December 3, 2020 at Heritage Woods of Freeport. She was born October 8, 1919, in Orangeville, IL, the daughter of Ammon and Maude (Stamm) Moyer. She married Clarence M. Weaver on September 21, 1942. He passed away February 24, 1991. She was a member of Freeport Women of the Moose, Freeport Eagles Auxiliary, and Trinity United Methodist Church, which is now Harmony Church. She was a member of the Freeport Rebekah Lodge 138 until it closed. She worked at Bloom-Cowan Manufacturing Co., Strutco, and Beuna Vista Foods. She worked 17 years at Micro Switch, retiring in 1986. She and her family camped for many years at Ernie's High Ground Campsite near Apple Canyon Lake. They spent many hours on the lake fishing. For 14 years she volunteered at FHN Memorial Hospital and Freeport Health Network, working many 8 and 9 hour days. In November 2013, she moved to Heritage Woods. After being there a couple years, she took charge of the Bingo, making sure the tables were set up. She took attendance for most of the activities. She was secretary for the resident committee meetings for two years. She was also a great card player, especially for Euchre, Hand and Foot, and 500. She was the one that always kept score. When COVID-19 came along, it shut down everything. She is survived by two sons, Allen (Bonnie) Weaver of Freeport and John Weaver of Red Oak; two granddaughters, Kristine (Greg) Babcock of Fort Mill, SC and Nicole Weaver of Monroe, WI; two grandsons, Troy (Katy) Weaver of Florida and Kevin (Kristine) Weaver of Lena, IL; great-granddaughters, Mariah Erickson of Madison, WI, Cassandra Weaver of Rockford, IL, Nina Leistiko, Monroe, and Aspynn Weaver of Lena; great-grandsons, Trent (Montana) Weaver of Florida, Alexander Weaver, Florida, Jaden Leistiko, Monroe, and Bayley Weaver of Lena; one-great-great-granddaughter, Mikayla Weaver of Florida; one step-great-grandson, Michael McCabe, Freeport; three sisters-in-law, Fern Moyer, Galena, IL, Beatrice Weaver, Freeport, and Jean Horstmeier of Pecatonica, IL; brother-in-law, Edward Kraft of Monroe, WI. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence M. Weaver, one son, Benjamin Weaver, one grandson, Todd Weaver, daughter-in-law, Jean Weaver, five sisters and five brothers. Special thanks to Sheila and the staff at Heritage Woods and to Marley and Hospice of America for their wonderful, compassionate care. Private family services will be held. Social distancing and face masks will be required at the services. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Alice's memory.
