Alice K. Lahne

Alice Kathryn Lahne 1932-2018, A Life Well-Lived Alice Lahne, 85, of Freeport, died Monday, October 29, 2018, in her home surrounded by her family. Born December 13, 1932, in Tremont, IL, to John F. Huette and Esther (Winzler) Huette. She graduated from Tremont High School in 1950 and worked as a legal secretary in Peoria, IL, and later as an executive secretary at W.T. Raleigh and Furst McNess Companies in Freeport. In her later years, she helped her daughter to homeschool six of her grandchildren. Her most beloved role was that of wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Alice married Bob Lahne on June 12, 1955, in Tremont, IL. They celebrated over 60 years of a devoted marriage. She is survived by her children Lydia (Dr. Dennis) Bowen of Rockford, Lois (Paul Dixon) of Belvidere, David (Vicki) Lahne of Shiloh, IL, and Diane (Dr. Paul) Willis of Cherry Valley. Also survived by grandchildren Ryan (Laura) Lahne, Kristina (Justin) Kain, Sarah (Tristan) Hunter, Joel (Miriam) Dixon, John-Paul (Dr. Katie) Dixon, Benjamin (KayeLani) Dixon, Dr. Michael Dixon, Mark Dixon, Porscha (LaMark) Barclay, and Cameron Willis; and great grandchildren Brandon, Allison, Ella Mae, Kent, Harrison, Faith, Robert, Jack, Leilani, Beili and Sofia, several nieces and nephews and faithful caregivers Rose and Anna. Predeceased by her husband Bob, brothers Robert and John, and sister-in-law Margaret. Alice was deeply devoted to her family, her faith, and her country. Alice will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her loving support, her generosity, her homemade Jeopardy games, and fun family parties. She was their biggest cheerleader. They will all endeavor to pass on to others what they've received from her. On Saturday, November 3, the funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Avenue, Freeport, with visitation from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Pastor Dave Spooner of Mosaic Rockford Church will officiate. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
