Albert O'Neal, Sr.

Albert O'Neal, Sr., 91, if Freeport, IL, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on July 2, 2018. He was born February 27, 1927, in Lexington, MS, to Toney O'Neal and Harriet (Oliphant) O'Neal. He married Marzilla (Hollins) O'Neal May 19, 1945 in Lexington, MS; she died June 26, 2018. He was a member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Freeport, IL. He was employed at Fairbanks Morse & Company, and Micro Switch in Freeport, IL. He also worked on the railroad. Albert loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. His favorite hobby was working with numbers. He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Melvin O'Neal, Freeport, Il, Helen O'Neal, Surprise, AZ, Maggie O'Neal, Freeport, IL, Claudine (Kenneth) Payne, Lansing, MI, Mary (Charles) Brabson, Alcoa, TN, Edith (Basil) Foster, Kansas City, MO, Debra Benton, Freeport, IL, Albert (Jacqueline) O'Neal, Jr., Freeport, IL, Timothy (Ramona) O'Neal Surprise, AZ, special daughter, Donna Jackson O'Neal; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, parents, four sisters, and three brothers. Joint funeral services for Albert and his wife Marzilla will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 5, 2018 at St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Freeport. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
