Albert "Al" DeMichele, 86, of Freeport, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 19, 1928 in Chicago, the son of Anthony and Antionette (Manselli) DeMichele. Al worked for Burgess Cellulos for 35 years and then delivered for Wagner Printing for 15 years. He married Nancy Heitz on September 9, 1952 in Dubuque, IA. Al was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Freeport Eagles Club. He enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and going to the cigar store with his nephew Frank. He is survived by his wife, Nancy DeMichele of Freeport; one son, Anthony (Alicia) DeMichele of Freeport; two daughters. Tammy (Tim) Stephenson of Galena, IL and Teresa (Kevin) Toomsen of Freeport; one sister, Margaret Sweet of Freeport; one brother in law, John Heitz of Freeport; seven grandchildren, Lucrecia (Ron Jr.) London, Alivia (Patrick) Runte, Anthony DeMichele, Jason Stephenson, Jill (Jon) Weis, Fallon (Dan) Westlund of Menomonie, WI and Micaela (Chad) Woker of Davis, IL; 16 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jasmyn, and Paityn London; Bailey, Gracie, Jack, and Lola Stephenson; Carley, Anna, Jonathan, and Lucas Weis; Ryker and Grady Westlund and Greenly, Brix, and Dempsie Woker. Preceded in death by his parents, step father Jack Malattacca and one brother Dominic. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Father Bob Camacho will officiate.
