Addison "Dale" Janssen, 91, of Freeport, died, Friday February 13, 2015 at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital. Dale was born on August 10, 1923 in Freeport, the son of Edward and Mary (Dame) Janssen. Dale married Betty Geisey on August 27, 1942, in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Betty died February 3, 2010. Dale was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for the Henny Hearse Company and was a self employed carpenter for many years. Dale was a member of the V.F.W., Elks Lodge #674, and the former Germania Club. Surviving are his son, Terry (Cindy) Janssen of Indianapolis, Indiana; and his daughter, Julie Borovoy of Freeport; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, wife, two brothers, three sisters, and son-in-law, John Borovoy. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday February 17, 2015 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be Monday 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Rev. Bill Blomberg will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
